Bleeding Heart
Written by Wanda Dionne
Shuggie, a 12-year-old runaway, needs a place to escape a cold and rainy Houston night, and chooses what she thinks is the sheltered porch of a vacant house, the perfect place to huddle out of the elements. What she didn’t expect was for the homeowner, Grace Randolph, to show up at midnight and discover her.
Each afraid of the other, they manage to forge a wary human connection. Unexpectedly, the homeowners invites her inside for a hot meal.
Tiptoeing through relationship-building, the two find treasures in each other’s strengths. They find companionship, genuine caring and loyal support.
But they didn’t take into account the horror of the child’s most recent past or Grace’s almost fatal lack of confidence. They didn’t consider the dangerous, demented pursuit of Teaser Holmes.
Can the runaway and the “bleeding heart” divorcee survive what lies ahead?
